Library Services

Our staff is able to assist you in finding cases or documents provided that you can provide us with the case citation or the article title. We are happy to fax or email you information on cases and articles of interest. We also offer interlibrary loan assistance for cases or articles not available from our resources.

There are five public computers and two black & white photocopiers available for public use in the library. Prints and photocopiers are .10 per page and must be paid for prior to collecting.

The library offers fax service to or from the library. Incoming and outgoing faxes cost .50 per page. The library's fax number is 440-350-2780.

The library offers free, public wi-fi in-house for laptop/digital device users. Select "Lake County Public" to be instantly connected to the internet.  The library also offers five computers for public use.

Library staff members have the ability to enlarge 8.5 x 11" paper, email, or saved documents to 17", 23", 29" or 36" wide, black & white posters for courtroom use. Corresponding-sized poster frames are also available to be loaned out for courtroom use.

The Lake County Law Library maintains an equipment collection available for use by the following: currently licensed attorneys who reside in Lake County and counties adjacent to Lake County; any Lake County elected official or department head, or member of his/her staff; and any judge or member of the judge's staff from Lake County, the Eleventh District Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Ohio. All borrowers of any equipment must agree to and sign the Borrower's Agreement prior to check out. Any borrower who is a currently licensed attorney is required to present their Ohio Supreme Court registration card and driver's license or state identification card. Late return fees may apply.

Anatomical Models & Charts

The library has over 30 anatomical models and charts which are available to be loaned out for courtroom use.

 

Digital Media Projector

The Law Library offers a digital media projector for use with a laptop computer that magnifies & displays electronic images, documents, charts or graphics onto any surface for easy viewing. A portable screen is available, as well. Please call in advance to reserve.

 

Dell Laptop Computers

The library offers Dell laptop computers with internet access and the Microsoft Office suite software available for check out.

 

ELMO Document Camera

The ELMO document camera works with a laptop computer to display actual documents and three-dimensional objects on a screen. The camera is especially useful for classroom or group meetings. Please call in advance to reserve.

 

Audio Discs

A small collection of CLE audio discs is available for check out for users meeting the circulating equipment collection guidelines.

 

 

The Law Library has a Polycom VSX 7000 videoconferencing unit available to library users for testimony, depositions, and meetings within the Lake County Courthouse. Please call the library in advance to reserve a time. A $75 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of reservation. Additional charges may also apply.

Library Databases & Software for In-House Use

The Lake County Law Library offers a Westlaw database by Thomson Reuters for patron research. We also offer a limited number of public computers with Supportworks child support calculation software. Our public computers offer the Microsoft Office package with internet access. Printing from our public computers is ten cents per page.
